Pine Nuts, Trains, and Horses

Last weekend we went for a LONG drive to find some pine nuts. :) Bob and his brothers had seen some while they were hunting, so we all decided to go back and get as many as we could. We passed some train tracks so we stopped and put some pennies on the track to see if a train would come while we were gone and smash them... then we headed up the mountain to find our pine nuts. The kids were having so much fun picking (and eating) the pine nuts. I realized how out of shape I am... hiking those hills was kicking my butt!!

After getting all the pine nuts we could find, we headed back to the train tracks... and sure enough, a train had passed and smashed our coins. Brooklyn thought they were so neat. After we gathered all we could find, we headed to Russ and Michelle's house so the kids could ride the horses. Brooklyn was not afraid to get on at all... she climbed on bareback and held onto the mane. Kason didn't know what to think when Bob just sat him on the back of the horse. Luckily Britney and Brooklyn were on there too to make him feel at ease. :) We were able to get some cute pics before he really wanted down... :) Everyone had such a fun time.

I love that picture with the three kids on the horse. Were the pine nuts we had on Saturday a result of your day?
