Pine Valley
After our trip to Instacare (See previous post). We decided to continue with our original plans and drive up to Pine Valley for the afternoon. It is so hot in St. George and with all the commotion this morning, it was nice to escape to cooler weather.
We first visited a friend of my mom's. They have a beautiful cabin up on the hill past the reservoir. The kids found a teeter totter and played on it while we visited. Then we drove through the new campgrounds. Wow, they were nice. We are surely going to take a trip up there soon.
Next, we found a spot by the river to hang. The water was still too cold to play in, so the kids found big sticks to hit the water with instead. I packed some treats, bubble gum, sunflower seeds, jerky, (you know, the necessities)... I looked over to see Brooklyn and Kason taking their gum out and putting it on the end of their sticks... They told me they were using it as bait to catch a fish. :) Even Aiden brought me his gum and asked me to stick it on his stick. :) Too funny.
Bob did find a fly fishing bug with some string so Brookyn attached it to her stick to try and catch a fish that way... with no luck. :)
Bob found a nice spot to take a nap. I swear, that guy can sleep anywhere... and he's sitting straight up too. :)
After we had played for a while, all of a sudden, the wind picked up like crazy. We heard branches falling down from the trees above us and the leaves were going completely sideways... before we knew it, it was POURING DOWN RAIN on us. :) We hurried and gathered our stuff and ran for the car. :)
The rain only lasted 10 minutes.... just long enough for us to get loaded into the car to leave. :)
We drove around and looked at cabins... wishing we could buy one... then we came home. Brooklyn was a trooper with her sore head and neck. :) It was so nice to get out of the heat. We will definitely be making more trips up there... maybe next time will be in the campground with the trailer. :)
